Haynes Johns - Afternoons

Haynes Johns Bio........(yawn)........

I had NO idea I would ever be on the radio, much less have it be my career!  I wanted to be an airline pilot, after a stint in the Air Force.  However, I was listening to a college radio station one summer afternoon, and they mentioned they needed help, and their studios were in my neighborhood, so I stopped by to see if there was something I, as a precocious 14 year old, could do.  Well, it turns out they had a blind guy that did afternoons (foreshadowing?), and they needed someone to pull his music and read his news.

Next thing I knew, I was working at my "dream" station in my hometown of Little Rock (yes, Arkansas)....and with all the guys I had listened to throughout school.

Then I got jobs in Jackson, MS, Dayton and Cincinnati, OH.....then here in Chicagoland.  But I finally got good enough to get the call from the mighty 1023XLC, to come play with the amazing crew here.  So there you have it; I never became a pilot, but I love to fly.  But I'd rather play Lake County's Best Variety...and have fun with our audience; I just didn't know it.....and the tender, impressionable age of 14.....just 15+ years ago.

Thanks for listening....reading this....and being a part of the 1023XLC
