Save-A-Pet Grayslake Weekly Featured Animals

Buffy

Need a talking or singing cat, look no further! I immediately start meowing whenever I spot someone, after all this is one of the best way to get attention around here. Adopted as youngster, I was returned after being in a home for 11 years due to allergies. I lived with a cat, dog and seven children and my family said that I was just wonderful. I never hesitate to climb into someone’s lap and also love to be brushed. My friends think that I am definitely the perfect family pet!

She is about 11 years old, neutered, up-to-date on routine shots and rabies, tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and microchipped.

Kalo

Take me with to watch the fireworks this weekend! I won’t be scared, I just wanna have fun…actually I might even fall asleep…something to do with being deaf. It sure doesn’t bother me at all. I was originally a gift to a family that had kids, from a baby to a 12-year old and had 2 labs and they said I was good with everyone. Unfortunately they just couldn’t afford caring for another dog. If you point your finger at me, I happily sit and look at you with my gorgeous eyes – one volunteer even thinks it looks like I have make-up on. I love playing fetch with a tennis ball and can’t wait to find my new family.

She is about 6 years old, spayed, up-to-date on routine shots and rabies, heartworm negative and on preventative and microchipped.

This summer, give the gift of love to a homeless animal, adopt one or even two!…and don’t forget to check our website at www.save-a-pet-il.org for many more cats and dogs, all ages and personalities, just waiting to love you for the rest of their life.

Roadie

Why is this door shut? Anyone on the other side? Hello, hello?? Why am I stuck in this room? How am I supposed to meet people and show them how sweet and lovable I am? I know they say it is because I am on a special diet, so what? As soon as someone comes to visit, I greet them with a string of very loud meows. I am extremely playful and love toys but my favorite thing is getting petted. I am so sweet that I would do great with kids and of course cats. Unfortunately most of my feline roommates here are not very playful and some even hiss at me when I try to get them involved. I sure wouldn’t mind a feline playmate to keep me busy but what I’d really like is someone to knock on my door and when I meow: “Whos’ there?” that their answer will be: “It’s us, your family!”

PS: I was trying to sniff the camera but he wouldn’t let me! He tried to explain something about looking cute but I am always so adorable so I just don’t know what he wanted.

He is about a year old. He is neutered, up-to-date on routine shots, tested negative for Feluk and FIV, and microchipped.

Tenjin

Most probably abused, neglected or just left outside and ignored for most of his life – I wish I could tell you my story. Somehow I ended up at a rural shelter where I wiggled my way and charmed one of the staff members from Save-A-Pet that was there to pick up a couple of dogs. She took me outside and I walked really nicely and leaned on her, just begging her to please not leave me behind. Somehow I knew that this was going to be a better place but even when I first came here, I was rather nervous around new people, not always trusting everyone immediately. Little by little, I started opening up – kindness always works miracle is the mantra here – and I am just the perfect example. I get completely devoted to my dog walkers, even taking treats gently from their mouth. I really love playing with toys and when in my kennel, I sometimes play the drums with my bowl – anything to get attention even though they told me that I shouldn’t be. I love getting scratches, just not on the lower half of my body. I am also perfectly happy, chilling out next to you and would prefer a quiet home where people would give me space and time to get adjusted. I need an experienced dog person to help me adjust to a kind environment.

This handsome guy is about three years old, neutered, up-to-date on routine shots and rabies, heartworm negative and on preventative and microchipped.
